Hey guys, I have a Remington 700 Classic in 8mm Rem Mag (1998) in very good condition. They guy I bought it from wants to buy it back for sentimental reasons. I don't really wanna sell it, but I understand his reasoning. No scope, leupold bases and rings and probably 2 boxes of Rem factory ammo. What is the going rate for these? Not many listed on Gunbroker and this forum seems to be the best measuring stick.

Id say say right around 1000 or 1100. One just sold on gunbroker for 1050 with ammo and dies and stuff. It wasnt worth 1500 like he had hoped. But you could maybe stretch it to 1200 if the guy MUST have it.
I have an 8mm mag in a Classic also. Bought new for around $500. Found a gun shop in upstate Pa. that had a bunch of 8 mag ammo, new Remington, 200 gr Accubond, behind the counter. $80 a box. Bought 3 boxes plus had a friend handload 100 rounds. I picked up the new brass at a gun show year or two before.
I don't know where you live, but guns at auction around here are going for crazy prices.

900 easy
Saw one last year in the local shop.....Like new, no box. It sat quite a while. I think he had 800 on it. Problem is no factory ammo, and brass is impossible to find.
If it was a good friend that wanted it for sentimental reasons I would sell it back to him for what I gave him for it and trust(hope) that he would throw a little extra my way. But not be upset if he didn't.

If it wasn't a friend I'd ask him for $1,000. With the ammo That's a fair price.

I recently paid 700 for a BDL that was in good shape, classics NIB seem to go between 1000-1400 depending on who needs one at the time.
Cheers,
