Home
I just got this rifle recently. Now, after three trips to the range, I've found that this rifle doesn't agree with an old wrist injury that I got in a car wreck! I could put a brake on it, but have two other Montana's that will fill this spot.

So, up for grabs is my Montana 338 Federal. It's light, but I'm not sure of the exact weight, as I've not weighed it. I've only ran 48 rounds through it and it shoots solid 1-1.25 inch groups(if I do my part)with Federal American Eagle factory loads with 185 grain pills.

The stock has beed bedded in the front of the receiver/lug/chamber. Its also been camo painted. I was going to repaint it, but when I got the rifle, I liked it, so I left it alone. It will come with the Leupold base and rings pictured, or I can give you a set of Talley mediums instead. I'm keeping my scope.

When I bought the rifle, the previous owner told me that it has a Pac Nor barrel. It has the factory Kimber contour and is engraved on the left side of the barrel. I had a local smith check out the bore with a bore scope, and he said that it looked like it's not been fired much at all.

I've not even tried any handloads yet, but have 100 pieces(2bags)of new Federal Brass and 48 pieces of once fired brass(this rifle) and RCBS dies, and 100each(200 grain)Federal Fusions.

This is a great rifle and I really like it, other than the fact that it makes my thumb and wrist sore!

I'd like $1200 shipped for everything. First "I'll take it", followed by a pm gets it. I don't have any Epayment types, so USPS MO, or bank check preferred.

I would also be willing to trade for another Montana in 223 Rem, or 22-250. The only long action Montana that I'd be interested in would be a 280 rem or 270 win.

How long is the barrel?

I knew someone was going to ask that before I got home!😁. I think it's 20 inches, but I'll measure it when I get home this afternoon.

Maybe he just wants a Classic? This one seems to be a good deal to me with the pacnor and extras. Good luck with your sale. I really like the camo on the stock, too.

Thank you! I thought the same thing about the classic.
Just got home and measured the barrel. Its just about 21.5 inches to the bolt face.
#####Full disclosure#####
While taking the scope off, and giving it a cleaning, I noticed that when the safety is all the way back, the bolt can still be opened. The trigger is blocked and the rifle is on "safe", but the bolt can be opened.

I am taking $100 off my price for the repair. Its probably something easy, but nonetheless, I think that $100 should cover it.

Price is $1100 shipped for rifle, brass, bullets and dies.
So is it just an early rifle with a 2 position safety?? Someone here knows about it. What's the Serial Number with last couple of digits "X"d out?

I didn't know that these ever came with two position safeties. Serial number is:

KM106xx
Well, looks like the early ones did exactly what this was doing. So, apparently, nothing is wrong with this one, it just has a two position safety. I guess i jumped the gun on the lower price, but my word is good. Still $1100 shipped for everything.

If someone does know for sure(by serial number range)I sure would appreciate knowing for 100%.
Good deal.
If I had the funds available, I’d snap it up.
Can't believe this is still here. I have a CZ 452 posted, if that sells...this is mine!
Throw me a trade offer you might have for your stainless 223, 22-250, 280 Rem. I like Tikka, Remington 700's, Ruger, Kimber. Trade value at my price of $1100.

223 and 22-250 are at the top of my list...
Only trade item I have would be a Colt Woodsman.22.

Looking for something with a bit more zip!😁
Kinda figured.
If you have it long enough, I’ll figure a way to buy it.
