It isn’t chambered for 8mm
Looks like a stepped barrel, from what I can see.
Rear sight looks like the rear on my Chilean Mauser - 7X57.
Bubba + "Spanish Mauser" which might have been made in Spain or Germany. Read the markings. Tell us.
96' Mauser "Sporter" of some sort, 6.5x55, 7x57
'93, or '95 Spanish Mauser possibly. Pull the bolt and post a picture.
Flat bottom at the head '93
Round bolt head '95
Pull the scope base to see if the crest and year of manufacture are still there
Not 96.
Probably 93 or 95.
John Boys recommendation is correct.

Ha, most definitely not!
The serials numbers match but there are no other marks I can find besides serial numbers ...
SO,
I removed the scope and bases and found a partial stamp of a circle with a domino on top which stumped me... but I dug a larg white light out and went over the rifle. At the muzzle end of they see side of the barrel I was able
To make out enough letters to reference a google sear to find that it is a Spanish Mauser with a m1915 barrel that’s been converted to 308 Winchester caliber.
Apparently imported through a Florida based company called Samco.
I also read the rifle itself may not be designed to ha due the pressure of the 308. Anyone have any experience with these “custom” rifles?
A lot were converted for the 308. There is disagreement as to wether it is safe for a 308. I don’t believe I would take the risk.
In the 80's i bought a lot from Samco global. They went tu in 2016 i think.
I mainly bought case lots of sks's from them at the staggering price of 17.50 per gun in a 20 gun crate!
Those 308's we avoided. Knew guys that had and used them for truck guns. Usually in the beds of the truck😊
