This is a Springfield 30-40 Krag that someone sporterized and placed in a Mannlicher stock. With the Lyman receiver sight, it would make an awesome little woods carbine. I believe I also have a box of Remington 30-40 Krag ammunition I'll add in to get you started.

Thanks, MPat. Yes, something different for sure.
Does if have a serial number on the receiver?

Nice rifle almost identical to mine except rear sight
Looks like 464349.....1904.
AH MAN! thats fantastic!
Cool old rifle, kind of like Larry Koller's Krag.
I'm a nut for Mannlicher-stocked rifles.

Me too!

About 35 years ago I had a mannlicher-stocked Krag that VT 'smith Wilbur Hauck stamp with his name and address, so I assume that he put it together. Somebody had put a G&H side-mount on it before I bought it and with the scope installed, offset to the left, it didn't balance/handle nearly as well as it did when the scope and top half of the mount was removed.
I remember seeing a beautiful custom Krag Mannlicher made by a gunsmith (I forget who) for Hollywood actor Dick Powell. It was on Gun Broker, and it sold for under $1,000. After 20 years, I still kick myself for passing on that one.
Back around.
Damn.....and I just bought a couple and you put this out there......GORGEOUS!!!!

I am guessing a 20" bbl?
Yup, maybe a tad shorter.
Dang, that's purty...
Like Bob Barker used to say......"This too can be yours, if the price is right!"
One more pass, then acting on a trade offered.
What are your trade interests?
I have a nice custom that was built for me, but this sure is a pretty one.
How is the bore?
Hare you shot it?
Thanks, Hutch
