Call Winchester with the serial number and they will tell you if the recall was initiated.

Savage,
Just to close the loop on the firing pin. My experience was totally painless; I sent them my old one (after my smith removed it) and they sent me a new one and a check for $50 to cover the cost of my smith's time.
So if anyone is concerned, don't be..
Best wishes on your sale. They're a great brush gun for deer; short length, light weight and accurate.

Can you see the iron sights if scope is detached from base?
Posted By: savage62 Re: Winchester Model 100 - 05/22/21
Just took scope off and you sure can

It is an anomaly of nature that someone has not snagged this rifle! The 100 and 88 are two of the most underrated deer rifles ever
Posted By: savage62 Re: Winchester Model 100 - 05/22/21
John pictures sent people its a pre 64 MADE IN 61 One guy said he would take it in a min if was a pre 64
Posted By: savage62 Re: Winchester Model 100 - 05/22/21
Men I am wrong i guess the lady from winchester said yesterday said 61 she is wrong I just look up again the number on a difference sight they say 65 so sorry at this point I dont know 65 i say # is 101660
Posted By: Fwrogg Re: Winchester Model 100 - 05/22/21
The stock is the only difference and should be obvious by the appearance, pre 64 hard checkering and post 64 had the oak nuts added. The guns are the same beyond the stock difference. They did not screw with these like the model 70.

I never care before 64 or after 64 .I know a lot of people say it does It must be true i was born in 47 so I must be better Ha Ha Joke All I know is last time we hunted togather was in 88 or 90 had lots of fun
Posted By: teach64 Re: Winchester Model 100 - 05/23/21
My book shows '64. Savage is correct. The only difference on the 88s and 100s is the stock before or after the Winchester cheapening in '64.
If your 100 has cut checkering, that is a pre'64 rifle although the SN puts it in '64, if it has a pressed (cheap) stock it is a 64. There were possibly cut stocks available into the '64 run so the assembly line guys may have found one and just placed it on a '64, but who cares?
Bottom line, it is the same rifle (mechanically) either way. It's a deer killer not a Winchester Collectable ANYWAY.
If I hadn't sold my 88 and 100 collection, I'd buy yours just to put and end to this nonsense.
