Need a 8x57 Mauser Classic?
Unless you can find a Campfire member willing to let go of one at a reasonable price, I'd wait. 7 hundy Classic prices are beyond stupid right now. Been looking for a Classic in .222 and finally gave up. Not willing to pay 2k for a gun that was almost half that price a year ago.

I agree with the Rem 700 in 222. I got tired of searching and finally ended up getting a savage model 24v in .222/20ga for cheap. Not too impressed so will probably sell it also.
How would a Remington 700 classic in .223 fit the bill? PM if interested.

Sold off nib Roberts, Swift and Swede Classics over the last few years. My 270 Classic has been my exclusive go to rifle for PA and NY bucks for the last 42 years and is a part of me.

You too can own 50 rifles that all look alike, have RR tie wood, too short barrels, cost more than a decent Model 70 and don't look as nice as a 700 BDL.

Yawn !

Paid the same as typical 700 Classic prices realized.

What would you rather have ?

Remington 700, Sorry for your loss,
Dusty246 & Wbyfan1: I have several Remington Model 700 Classics that I intend to sell off starting in July 2,022.
They are all in mint condition and all shoot VERY well with low round counts.
They are in calibers:
17 Remington
221 Remington Fireball
222 Remington (2 of these)
223 Remington
7m/m Remington Magnum
So if you all are willing to wait a while they will be offered for sale here first (at going market rate) then off to gunshows.
Some may describe the current SELLING prices for Remington 700 Classics as "crazy" but I do NOT!
I describe the current selling prices as, THE, current selling prices.
Come on Big Green - get back on track!
Meanwhile good luck in your search for Remington 700 Classics.
Hold into the wind

Some people just don’t get it.
Personally, I prefer the Classic’s.

Yep, you only have to wait another year. WTF?
poconjack: No you have to wait 13 months and 9 days.
If you don't want to wait - don't!
WTF right back atcha!
Already have several interested persons inquiring and asking to be "listed".
You're getting "weird" little buddy.
I hope it doesn't get worse.
BTT for the O/P.

What barrel length would you prefer? Most of the Classics have a 24" barrel.. couple don't.

Just curious.

g
With todays powders either is fine with me. My Classic 223 has the 24". Have my eye on a Classic 06, I'll see what barrel it has. My Whelen was 22" and was the most accurate gun I've ever sold like a dummy.
I have a classic in 375 H&H. It's not up for sale but I'm curious as to it's value. It's in excellent condition. Only used it in Africa for a few hunts. I got a good deal so I hunt with the synthetic and save the pretty walnut from getting beat up. Kindly let me know what the "fire" thinks this gun is worth.

A LGS had two, 8x57 new never fired, and a 300 Savage used with a lupi on top. Both $700 each. PM me if interested, can put you in touch.

Our household sampling of one rifle, I'd say they are pretty darn good rifles. My Daughter has the .300 Savage Classic, it has killed a pile O' white tails and a couple pronghorn. She now carries a Howa Alpine .308 for most hunting, but she still loves her old .300 Classic. The only issue she had with the Classic was the weight, and that's why she migrated to the Alpine rifle. I watched that rifle kick her a$$
so badly she quit on an elk hunt when she was 12.
I know of the whereabouts of a 350 Remington mag and a 338 win mag NIB that are gathering dust at the dealer. They are 1199. He is a thief FWUW.

That 300 Savage will handle any deer you come across (and black bear too), they come with a 24 in barrel, no sights.

One of my four 700 Classics is a 300 SAV. Put a Leupold VXII 2-7x33 scope on it and started rotating it into my deer hunting rifles about 6 yrs ago. Good accurate rifle to begin with, had the barrel shortened to 22 in and recessed crowned last year, now its even better.

Also have 250 SAV, 280 Rem, and 350 RemMag Classics - but none of them are for sale!!
What calibers are you looking for? There is a nice Remington 700 Custom KS in 300 Win Mag for sale in the classifieds. I had the same rifle in 416 rem and it was real nice. If 300 Win Mag is good for you then I would buy it instead of a classic.

Man, a good friend of mine hunts with one of those. I had a CDL, but was looking for the classic. I don't know why, just always wanted one, sentimental I guess.
There are SEVENTEEN for sale right now on GunsAmerica.com

Probably best to go where they are for sale ?
Change of plans the breeder called and 10 Labs pups were born so I'm in for a pup. Thanx for the interest I won't be buying a Classic after all.
