I have some Varget I am thinking of selling , I notice people are paying some high prices . I was looking for some real world numbers of what it may be going for in a "face to face" sale between individuals ? I live in the sticks of NE NY so my audience would be thin for local sales . I have 10 pounds , that may be worth a road trip ? I have never really been into the whole supply/demand thing but will admit this one has me curious .

Thanks for any help folks .
I wouldn't give over $35 a pound if I were buying.

Some are gouging but my 2 guys are right where they should be, $30-40 depending on the powder.

Do your guys have varget in stock ? I read it's hard to find. Thanks
Yes, Varget is a desireable powder. And yes, there are stupid prices being paid (I've seen ASKING price of !00-140 a pound by some scalpers. There are some powders that can be found. All that said I'd suggest you put $50 a pound on it FTF, and perhaps a discount if somebody travels and buys all of it from you. And lets hope that they then don't buy it simply to mark it up to screw other people.

P.S. What I have done is trade powders, pound for pound. I've done that for primers too. Perhaps you need something else?

1 does. Along with H-4350 which is another hard to obtain powder right now.

The guys I know will find an alternative rather than pay $100 per pound.
Powder valley and Natchez both had Varget in stock this morning.
A fair price in todays market would be $50 a lb. Yes it should be less, but its all about supply and demand just like anything else. imo anything over that would be taking advantage of the situation. I would pay $50 for a lb and not feel like I got ripped off.
I was offered $50.00 a pound and turned it down till it comes more readily available I had alot asking for me to sell some
Thanks folks , much appreciated . Good to get the real scoop from folks in the know .
I bought 2 pounds from Graf's last week for $34.95 a pound. Good deal as they are within 27 miles of my house.
Varget started showing back up some but you could still make some money on it especially if it’s a desired lot number that someone is wanting. I would unload it quickly if your wanting to sell. A few months ago it would bring stupid high prices.
Fairest to trade, otherwise $40-50 is fair too. If Graf's gets $35, there will be tax, gas, or shipping on top of that.
How about for retumbo?
I traded it to a local shop for some other stuff I don't need . Shop owner can pass it along at a fair price and make a few bucks while the local shooters get some Varget which has been scarce around here according to him . Win win . Thanks again folks, much appreciated .
I just got some Reloader 26 for $46 at our local gun show
Back when prices were normal it cost $38 at our LGS here.
I would say $40-50 on a face to face would be fair.

Like, you were able to go pick it up in person? That's awesome. I'd happily pay $50 a pound for it here in VA, I haven't seen any available in forever

What part of VA are you in?
What is so special about Varget to demand such a markup in the secondary market?

Varget is a good stable powder that can perform well in smaller cartridges and well as larger non magnum cases.
So it has utility, and lots of guys have lots of loads refined with that powder.
I am not saying the prices are right, but if someone bought another powder then had to work up loads, that would be a lot of money and time.
Probably "cheaper" to just pay a premium on Varget.
My buddy just sold two 8 poundrs for 400 each, and the buyers were happy to have the same lot # for 8 pounds of shooting. I have a few jugs but feel creepy to charge that. Same with primers.
My buddy gave me hell because he had a lot of requests for his extra jugs.
I bought 4 pounds from hodgdon this week. Will end up being about 50 bucks a pound. I see it locally listed by private party fro 75 to 80 a pound. 50 is a decent price.
If sportsmans has it in stock it's 42 plus tax, so over 45 bucks here, if you can get 5 (max limit) at powder valley it's over 47 bucks, from hodgdon 5 max is just over 49, the other places add sales tax along with hazmat and shipping, some have a 2 limit, so over 50 bucks up to 70 if you order just 1.

50 to 55 bucks for the good powders is the going rate for powders that retail at 46 to 52 after tax and/or fees.

In Richmond. Astonishingly, within 24 hours of me writing that, I strolled into Green Top and they had a dozen individual pounds of it on the shelf... $44, but it was the first time I'd seen new production Varget sold in person at a store in over a year. Also had Retumbo and H4350. Could just be that a CONEX box made it off a ship somewhere, but hopefully this is a sign of brighter reloading component days to come
just picked up two 8 pounders on Friday for $245.00 each, so $30.63 a pound
