You are right that is a nice piece and about the same time period as my 444. I bought mine in 1974 or 1975.

Does it appear the stock was cut or could the oem plate go back on?

I have a 1978 version, almost as nice. It was presented as unfired, but I don't think it was. At any rate, the bore is pristine, and it is quite a shooter! These are GREAT rifles!

That is a really sweet rifle. Great seller too. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this should have the Douglas barrel. That's a nice plus. I forget the exact dates.

Type of rifling? Micro Grove or traditional? I'm asking because Micro Grove doesn't work well for me with cast bullets.
