Received my two half-gallons today. My wife will be a very happy girl when she comes home from work and sees those jugs printed with "St. Lawrence County Maple Syrup" . It is truly a taste of home for us. We grew up about a 45 minute drive from where Danny is and, in fact, have common acquaintances. I'm sure if we sat and visited we'd find we knew a number of people in common. She is convinced, and I don't disagree, that St. Lawrence County maple syrup is the best on earth.

Nothing but good things to say here. Haven’t opened it up yet and I am still finishing the last of the nearly 3gallons I bought last year…but we are down to the last quart of 2021 syrup. Sure this year will be just as good. I will say mine got delayed as the packaging got damaged and then usps returned to Danny as undeliverable since the label was ripped off. He shipped it right back out pronto with new tracking. 3 half gallons….that should hold kids over til at least June!

Yes it will, actually many years like that and probably near forever in a freezer. It won't freeze solid because of the sugar and will return to normal once it reaches room temperature again

ABOUT GRADES
We’re often asked about the differences between maple syrup grades. In general, lighter grades are usually made earlier in the season. They have a more mellow maple flavor whereas darker syrups are usually produced later in the season from older sap and has a much stronger maple flavor. As temperatures get warmer and the sap gets older throughout the season the sugar starts to naturally break down, these new sugars caramelize quicker when heated, that's why the syrup tends to be darker and have a stronger taste. Just like white/red wine and light/dark beer, neither is better, just personal preference. That is why the industry no longer calls dark syrup Grade-B—some people thought that meant it was inferior which is definitely not the case! We do recommend dark or very dark for cooking. If you use golden/amber in recipes, other ingredients may cover up the maple taste. Our dark grade is perfect on pancakes or on anything else! All grades are 67% sugar, 33% water, and have the same thickness and sweetness. We usually use golden/amber for our candy and cream and amber for sugar. Lighter grades usually, but not always, crystalize easier and make better and more consistent confections.

Not only tough but impossible to find an electric one. I thought I could buy one from a German Maker? Nope! Krups is Chinese. Your syrup is the best I could hope to ever have. May have to follow Jahrs advice.

Maple syrup and Rye whiskey turkey brine for thanksgiving!

The brine I am using for this years turkey. It's in the refrigerator now and I will take it out tomorrow rinse it off and then put it on the smoker.

Ingredients

4 quarts water, divided

2 cups dark brown sugar

1 cup soy sauce

1 cup maple syrup

¾ cup sea salt

8 cloves whole garlic cloves, peeled

6 bay leaves

3 large fresh thyme sprigs

2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns

1 cup sour mash whiskey (I used Rye Whiskey instead)

Directions

Place 2 quarts of water in a large pot over medium heat, and stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, maple syrup, sea salt, garlic cloves, bay leaves, thyme sprigs, peppercorns, and whiskey. Stir to dissolve brown sugar and salt; bring to a boil. Remove from heat, and stir in remaining 2 quarts of water. Allow brine to cool completely before using.

I may have missed it but what type/material are the containers is it pkg in?

Food grade heavy plastic. This is our main jug. Last season was hard finding jugs and we ended up having to buy some jugs with a another brand. These jugs are longer and 2 of the half gal. jugs won't fit a medium flat rate box, so thats a little price increase. Because of the design of the 1/2 gallon jugs it'll take a large flat rate box to ship 2 of them so $67 shipped for 2. We don't usually buy this type of jug because of that but last year they were all that was available. Still have the normal jugs of quarts also.
