Help to Price Check a Model 7

I a a big guy and normally like a full size rifle, maybe even a little longer length of pull. I am not familiar with the Model 7, I have only had two in my life. I traded away a nice stainless little .243 to my brother and I have an older, plain wood stocked 7mm-08 with sights. The rifle is bedded into the stock. It is a decent job. The stock shows some where, but the wood is the plainest piece of wood I have ever seen . The bluing is decent, with a little loss around the muzzle. I am not sure if this rifle has an aftermarket trigger or a good trigger job on the factory trigger. The trigger shoe is wide and looks like a timney trigger but no markings on the trigger itself. The rifle shoots well. I just dont see myself using it in the future and I need to downsize. The problem is that I know this is a fairly desireable little rifle in a good caliber so I hate to part with it. Any help on what this rifle should bring on the classifieds, or a local sale?

Plain wood sounds like a youth stock. Does it have a schnabel forend?

It does have a schnable for end, does that signify a youth stock? If I keep it I was going to replace it with a fancier wood stock, or try to find a newer synthetic.

It has this stock and looks like this picture, with rifle sights etc. Mine has a limbsaver on it.

Less the schnabel than the plain wood. I think the youth stocks are birch, whereas the full length stocks are walnut. I'm with HarleyHutch: restock it and use it. I have a Model 7 in 7mm-08 in an HS Precision stock. One of my favorites.

To your original question, Model 7s in 7mm-08 are great guns. With that stock, though, it won't bring top dollar; most will want to restock it. Nevertheless, you should be able to get north of $750 for it.

Does it have the 18” barrel and 13” LOP? Should be a youth.

I would guess that with a limbsaver added that it just might be the youth stock made to fit an adult.
