New Haven Classic SM. SNG965xx

Sent to Jim Kobe to shorten the barrel to 20”, install new NECG front sight, ensure it feeds very well, tune trigger, upsize scope mount holes for #8 screws, install Leupold QRW bases. Trigger and feeding are outstanding

Later sent Eddie Fosnough for barrel fluting (think he sends that work to Karl Kampfeld), cerakoting, stock painting, pad installation on factory stock. Cerakote and stock paint are perfect. Fluting preserved all factory barrel markings. Looks perfect

LOP 13 1/8”. Shortened for use with a backpack on

I put this together for a bear rifle for AK and N Idaho, but never carried it. Shot less than 50 rounds

This lil hand full of dynamite can be yours for $1500 shipped and insured to lower 48 from individual, $50 more to ship from FFL

First right of refusal to the two gentlemen who PM’d me in the order they came in. First I’ll take it after that if the two gents pass.

Well thought out rifle with top shelf guys doing the work, very nice!

Painted factory stock, or other? Very nicely done either way.
Posted By: hardin284 Re: Win 70 .375 H&H - 04/27/22
Painted factory stock. It exceeded my expectations when returned from Eddie.

Any idea what it weighs?
Posted By: hardin284 Re: Win 70 .375 H&H - 04/27/22
Guessing around 7.5 lbs but can weight it Fri afternoon when I get back in town.

The two who PM’d me passed, so the first I’ll take it gets a nice rifle
Posted By: hardin284 Re: Win 70 .375 H&H - 04/27/22
This is the Classic synthetic matte and is not Stainless

Not a contender but interested in this information once you weigh it!
Posted By: hardin284 Re: Win 70 .375 H&H - 04/28/22
I’ll get the weight Fri. I know it is much lighter and well balanced. Felt muzzle heavy to me before the barrel work
Posted By: AKwolverine Re: Win 70 .375 H&H - 04/28/22
Yes, the OEM barrel is a truck axle!
That’s a great looking rig and a good price.

I’ve had a Kimber talkeetna in order for 2 years… this is scratching that itch!!!!

Buy it...Kill a big bear. Recover from its recoil with whiskey....Sell it.

Bump for a sweet rifle.

Made it home and weighed the rifle…..7.4 lbs on my scale and it balances 1/2” or less in front of the front action screw.

That’s impressive. I would not have thought 4” of barrel, flutes, and a bit of stock would have shed over a pound.
Thanks for that info.
Posted By: hardin284 Re: Win 70 .375 H&H - 04/30/22
AK Wolverine, I hear ya, but like you said that original barrel is pretty beefy on these
Posted By: AKwolverine Re: Win 70 .375 H&H - 04/30/22
I normally figure about an ounce per inch of barrel but on this it’s probably closer to two. And then six to eight ounces off with the fluting and a couple for the stock and it gets you there.

Dang....I'm tempted to sell/trade my talkeenta...

Thanks for removing my temptation! I've been looking at this thinking how I could swing it when I just dumped 2K into a Steel Challenge 22 carbine.

Damn! You should've kept it and hit the woods with it.
