Remington Sportsman 12 aka cheaper 870 Wingmaster. These were made from 1984-86 as a cheaper alternative to the 870 Wingmaster before the introduction of the Express. Pretty much the same gun other than bluing and wood as the Wingmaster. This is a 12 gauge 2 3/4 or 3" , 30" full vent rib. Good condition with a few small nicks around the trigger guard and buttstock. $450 to your FFL from a non FFL shipped USPS only. Pretty much any payment form accepted.

Very nice and a hard to find piece for the Remington collector.

Solid good quality guns, I've had one since '86.

Walnut or birch stocks?
Posted By: kennymauser Re: Remington Sportsman 12 - 04/28/22
The ones I was around were all birch with a real blue job-----not bead blasted!

Original ads say only hardwood. Pretty sure its birch and not walnut. I can pull the recoil pad off in the morning after work and confirm though if needed.

One and only price drop $425

Neat rigs. Just picked up a Magnum version.
Indeed the wood is hardwood ( not walnut ).

FWIW unlike the Express, the finish is not matte. And the receivers do not have a flat on top.

These were the preferred guns to D&T for scope bases, when guys were building deer and turkey rigs.

And mine is going to be built into a turkey gun 😊
Think the Sportsman series were made in 85 and 86.

They did pump and auto shotguns, plus bolt, pump and auto in rifles.

They dont last long on dealer shelves when they occassionally pop up.

You're right. Blindfolded i couldn't tell the difference between it and a Wingmaster from the same era.
One more time

Anyone that can use an extra shotgun is sleeping on this deal. The Expresses locally have been bringing $350. Great old shotgun from a solid seller.

So true. These older guns are in so many ways better than current production, but everyone wants plastic, and camo, and semi….. take a good old pump gun anyday.

I am interested in working out something for this. Where are you located I maybe able to meet you at a FFL if not I have several close to me that I could have it shipped to.

Hey just seeing if it is still available I have been looking for some time for one. I grew up hunting with my dads gun which is the same model. I would like to have one of my own.

A simple "I'll take it" is likely all that is necessary.

He’s obviously new here. And won’t be able to do PM’s either, with such a low post count.

Yep. I had a magnum version in College for duck and geese hunting I bought when Oshnan’s Sporting Goods in College Station was closing then out.
I can’t remember for sure, but seems like I bought it new in 83 or 84. Wish I would have bought one of the Magnum 1100 versions too.
It’s basically a Winggaster with hardwood stocks.
Lots nicer than an Express. Wish it were a 20.

This sold several months ago locally.
