Late 70s 700 Adl in 7mm Exp. Comes with painted Remington stock and factory wood stock. Gun is in good condition with general hunting marks from being used. Missing rear sight. Stock has what looks like a faint crack in that the barrel channel that is visible from the inside. I’m picky so I can’t sell this and not say anything about it. No it’s identical to 280 Rem which is a .30-06 with shoulder pushed forward to keep it from chambering in a .270
If you ever have to sell it the 7mm on the barrel stamping will be worth more then a 280 stamping.

Google 7mm06. First paragraph says same as 7mm Express and 280 Remington. All Remington BDLs That were in fact stamped 7mm06 were 280s. They were recalled by Remington. There was less than 200 of them made that way. 20% were sent back and was restamped 7mm Express. There was even some ammo produced which is very rare stamped 7mm06. Same as 280. Not my words. I just researched Remington for a long time.

This is correct info. The reason for the recall was the .280 Rem/7mm Express Remington was not the same case as the 7mm-06 wildcat cartridge, thus the confusion with marking the barrels as such, and the marketing departments decision to recall and destroy all rifle so marked. Two hundred such rifles shipped and only 40 recovered for destruction, so yeah it is the holy grail of model 700’s. There is a Remington 700 BDL with the 7mm-06 marked barrel on G.I. Listed at $9500!!!

Several years ago I saw a 7mm/06 700 on the used gun rack of a cabelas…. I was broke and didn’t buy it…. It still haunts me!
The 280/7mm Express is one cartridge that I think would be a great cartridge from pronghorn to moose or caribou. It's one of my favorite cartridges. The bullet selection for the 7mm's is one of the best.
