I am looking for used Ruger American .243 setup, preferably 22” barrel for my 9yr old.

Don't overlook a 5.56/.223 if you can get one.

Stupid accurate and will STONE a deer/hog at anything approaching reasonable distance.

No doubt 223 is a great caliber. However, will stick with .243 for now.

Just a note of encouragement... I bought one just a few weeks ago, 243 RA... goodness. It shoots good. I was really surprised how well it shot...
