Nice, I have one just like it but mine is stainless. It's my boat gun for nasty assed bears. Works very well with the 520 gr. piledrivers.

I have more pictures. They are too large to post right now. I’m working on making them smaller.

Just out of curiosity, how much of a difference did the porting make?

Guide Guns came ported like that at that time. With hot rod loads they still are no fun to shoot and those ports make an incredible, painful high-pitched scream. You'll never shoot it more than once without ear protection, trust me on that.
I find the porting helps reduce muzzel raise, and helps recoil.

Very nice Marlin!

Beautiful finish!

I like it.

I had one in stainless not ported and sold it in the 2010s. I probably would not have shot it in the last many years but I kinda wish I had kept it.

That mirrors my experience, I’ve owned both and like the ported ones better.

I have the same exact gun. Outdoor Life made it Gun of the Year in I think 2000, so I bought one. Will never sell it. Every red blooded American needs to own a Guide Gun. Mine dropped an 800 pound bison in its tracks. I got rid of the idiot button.

Good luck on selling a true classic.
It’s a really nice rifle. I have only put about 15 rounds through it. I have never hunted with it. It has just sit in the safe.
I have a second one that is also ported that I have taken several deer and pigs with and I have not noticed any extra noise. Maybe my hearing is gone, I don’t think so.
Thanks for looking.

I have the exact same rifle. Used it to kill my biggest hog yet, 355 pounds. Dropped in its tracks without so much as a wiggle.
