To make a long story short, Jeremy listed his S&W 66 snubbie here in the Classifieds, and I initially offered to buy it, but was then warned about multiple red flags with his account, (long dormant, sudden flurry of activity in the Classifieds, mismatched pictures, etc). I then backed out of the deal but he offered to send the gun first, and I could send him a check after receipt.

Bottom line is, I am happy to report he is not a scammer, but a good dude, and I would buy from him again. Better to be too cautious than not, I guess, but it is nice to be proven wrong sometimes.....

Coincidence, I backed out of a deal recently as well based on several of the red flags you mentioned. Turns out the seller was good to go, but sure didn't seem that way at first.
