It could be used for cloverleaf tang or opened to the later tangs, the barrel channel is undersized so could be used for featherweight profile or larger.

Is it that red, or is it just the pictures?

It’s a little hard to tell, it appears more red in the pics than in person. I just sanded the stock with some 180 grit to give a smoother surface to be able to show the grain so it is soaking up a lot of mineral spirits. The finish will probably be lighter after you sand to a finer grit
