I bought this two years ago. When I test drove it, It seemed to run fine. the seller told me that nothing was wrong with it. I brought it up to Deer camp. I'm 66 years old. I do not trail ride or run it hard. I only use it to go to my stand to hunt and fill the feeder. after several trips to camp I noticed it was low on oil so I topped it off. A few more trips to camp and I had to add oil again.

I took it to the Honda dealer and told them to diagnosis it. They said the previous owner must have driven it through some water and got some in the intake.

They said that one side of the cylinder wall was showing some wear and oil was getting passed the rings. they also told me it would get worse.

Cheapest option was to replace the top end. However they would not warranty that work. They had know way of knowing if something was a little off in the bottom end and could cause problems in the future.

They said if I replaced everything it would come with a one year warranty from Honda. So that's what I did.

It took a while for them to complete the work. I still needed something at Deer camp, so I replaced it with this.

A 4x4 99 Trooper. all enclosed, A/C, heated seats, lot of other extras. And I can drive it to the feed store in town to buy corn and grab lunch. I'm getting soft in my old age.

Nice machine, and good on you to offer such full disclosure. GLWYS

Thanks for your reply.

I could have easily put a band aid fix on it and just replaced the cylinder and rings then put it up for sale. It would have saved me a few thousand dollars.

But I know as a buyer, I'm not real happy with what happened to me. I tried to call the previous owner. He would not answer my calls. I could not in good conscious do a half assed repair and move it along to someone else.
