Well said, if they can’t figure out how to post a pic they probably can’t figure out how to send a package either.

I don't mind either way. Is what it is. Lot of things I can't do either, so if someone doesn't know how to post pictures, big deal. If the rifle interests me, I can get pictures by text or email, which I have from some on here.
It comes easy to some, to others, not so much. I have no problem asking for pictures if I'm interested in the item. With all the different forums I'm on, it's not easy to figure it out when half of them are not all the same process. I gave up on a few. I'll try this one again because I have something to post for sale.

Believe it or not, not everyone is as tech savvy as you. There are hardworking people in this country who rarely use computers. Yes, I know how to post pictures but am not going to look down on those who can't. If the lack of a picture offends you then move on.

While I like pictures w/ the posting, life doesn't always give you what you want.

Ya know what has pictures? Websites selling new products for full retail, plus tax!

These are used classified. If you don't like it, buy new; they even take credit card payment.

Like the Bud Light debacle, understanding who is actually around you goes a long ways. You're on a classified gun board offending and talking down to half the participants. Some of which know twice as much about rifles than I'll ever learn, but they might not be able to post pictures.

Good way to put yourself on the do not do business with, either buying from, or selling to, list. If you don't like something there is a whole lot smarter ways of going about it, just saying.

Some people think that just because their WiFi and cell coverage is great, everyone’s must be.

I stand out by the pasture fence to text a photo.

I “time out” posting pictures.

Yes sir, I’ll try to do better.

Someone has had a bad day maybe.
This site has a 2MB picture size limit and My phone pics are usually bigger than that so they text better direct to an interested party , or E-mail.
Some of us do what we can do with what we got to work with...

She already did.
I’m just fine with ads with no pics.

If it’s something I want, it’s less competition.

Sellers ad, sellers choice, it's just that simple.
If a seller doesn't post pictures, he hurts nobody, other than himself.
Pretty much sums it up… no different than pissing on someone’s thread. If you don’t like the item, content or the price, just move along.

Like the Bud Light debacle, understanding who is actually around you goes a long ways. You're on a classified gun board offending and talking down to half the participants. Some of which know twice as much about rifles than I'll ever learn, but they might not be able to post pictures.

Alright you smarmy bustards with all the answers,, I don't need a thing, but I often buy something because the pic trips my trigger.

No pic ....no interest.
Pictures are a big help. With that being said I've bought things that I had to ask for Pictures and there's a few members I've done business with I'd still buy sight unseen. Not everyone has a decent smartphone or tablet or laptop or even decent cell coverage or wifi.
I like to see pics too, but an ad with a decent description of the item and an offer to text or email pics, certainly doesn't
turn me off.
To the OP. If you don't like it, move on! A lot of us have gotten along just fine for a lot of years without your demands.

Don’t like it? Then just leave. Not hard to ask for pics.

I use a PC for posting on the campfire. I take pictures using my apple phone. I have absolutely no idea how to get pictures from one to the other. Lots of phone crap, I am a babe in the woods about. miles
I lurked around this forum for years and years but only joined recently. In that short time, I haven’t seen anything not sell because of a lack of pics. Most sellers have some form of work around. The only thing I’ve seen not sell something is the asking price or something about the seller not passing the sniff test.

Everyone has their own criteria for whether or not they bite on something. Your criteria may not be mine….. and that’s just fine. Live long enough and you’ll get to experience some REAL life problems. I don’t sweat the small stuff.
I’m more put off by people who don’t put sizes in their thread titles. I’m pretty tired of opening links to discover the seller is the size of a dwarf.

The only way I can do pictures is that I have my grandson's girlfriend take the pics with her phone.

Then she sends the pics to my e-mail address so I can forward the pics.

I have had some that would post pics for me. I really appreciated that.

I can only e-mail pics. I don't have texting either.

I have dealt with a lot of people on this site, both buying and selling. Everyone I have dealt with has been decent, so far.

If you are someone that just has to have pics posted, I DON"T need you either.

I am a BOOMER.
If a potential buyer won't even pm for pics, they aren't too interested in buying in my opinion.

Better yet, offer to "Facetime" them and walk them through the process. After a time or two they should be able to do it themselves. I had a member here walk me through it and it was awesome. Thanks again Cheesy!
The attachment manager is here if you want to add pictures right from your device

Isn't avoiding having to PM or text for pictures the whole point of the thread?
I'll try to post a couple pictorials when I get time that will expand. I use Postimages too, on my laptop, but use a slightly different process than listed above.

Every time I try to post a photo here the same error message pops up telling me the file size is to big. I mention I can text or email photos to an interested person. If that doesn't work for some people then they can stop looking at what I am selling.

Besides, in my experience plenty of people who have to see photos and even ask for more generally are just time wasters and rarely buy anyhow.
If I can post pictures, anyone can

This is a big stumbling block - let's work it out. I am in the same boat as you sir - I use my PC for 24HCF and my iPhone to take pics.

There are two major ways to get pictures from your iPhone to your PC.
1) You can email the pictures from your iPhone to your email account that you use on your PC, open your email on the PC, then save the pictures from the email message. To email yourself a picture from your iphone:
a)Open the picture on your phone and select the "share button" circled here:
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
b) That will bring up several ways to share the picture. The email account you have on your phone should appear among them. In my case, that's yahoo Mail. Select your email:

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
c) this should bring up your email with the picture already attached to it. Type your own email address into the "To:" window and hit send. Then you can open your email on your PC and save the picture from your email to your PC.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

2) You can connect your iPhone to your PC and transfer the pictures using Windows File Explorer.
[If this sounds like greek to you, go to whatever you use to do internet searches and type in "Windows file explorer tutorial." You will get a lot of choices to watch videos on how to use File Explorer.]
a) Have your PC on and select the File-shaped icon to open explorer. Using the knowledge you just learned on the Explorer tutorial, make a file where you want to save the pictures from your iphone
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
b) Take your iPhone charging cable and plug the USB end into one of the USB ports on your PC. Make sure your iPhone is open and unlocked and plug it to the charger. When your PC recognizes it, it'll show up as a "drive" in Explorer. The first couple times you try this, your iPhone may show you a display asking if you should "Trust this Device." Say yes.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
c) click on this drive and it'll open up the iPhone "Internal Storage" where all your pictures on your phone live. Click on that object.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
d) The current iPhone software versions store your pictures in folders by year and month they were taken. Choose the year/month you took the desired pictures to save to your PC
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
e) Use your new-found knowledge of File Explorer to copy the desired pictures from your iPhone to the file you made for them on your PC.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

And Bob's your Uncle. Next subject - how to take pictures from your PC and post them to 24HCF...

Cheers,
Rex
If I’m really interested in something I like pictures you can enlarge on your computer or tablet. I can’t see an item on a text well enough to know if I would purchase or not. I’m a boomer and figured out how to post pictures. Take some time and notes and figure it out. My 2 cents worth!!
My goodness some are making the simple difficult. If you are using your iPhone for photos, simply post them to this site from your iPhone. It literally takes 15 seconds using postimage and eliminates a cumbersome step.
This is how I use Postimage to post quality pics to 24HCF:

1) Go to Postimages.org on your web browser. Select the size shown here, then select "Choose Images."
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
2) Nagivagate to the pictures you want in Windows Explorer, select them and click Open at the lower right of the display (forgot to circle it for you here but I'm confident you can find it.)
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
3) The chosen images will upload to Postimages. Select the picture you want to post
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
4) Then right mouse click on the open image in Postimages, and select "copy image link."
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
5) now go to the post that you are writing on 24HCF. Put your cursor where you want that image to appear in your text. Select "Use Full Editor" on your post.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
6) Click on the "insert image link" tab
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
7) Right mouse click in the URL window and select "paste.", then click OK.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
8) the images you've selected will just look like this, until you select Preview Reply:
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
9) Then you be able to review your post and make sure the image and all else is as you want it:
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
10) Then select Post Rely and you're done.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

Hope this helps everyone.

Cheers,
Rex
Rex, that works, but you don’t need to do that. You’re making a three step process a ten step process.

Happy to learn but not seeing that. I see the hotlink option. Are you saying paste it directly into the post?
Is there a daily limit to postimages or something? I may have burned through it making those tutorials.

Any help is appreciated
And what you're describing seems no faster than what I already do - it's the same steps you're describing

Hard to have much respect for or care too much about discussion anything with someone who bought into the Boomer train. Just another victim who was told by their mom and dad they were special and important. Pretty used to getting what he wants from home.

Sometimes being the fastest isn't always the best. smile I admit, I do it the cumbersome way. Take pictures, TEXT them to my email and then load them into photobucket. It certainly isn't the fastest or easiest but it works for me. I have trouble with my fat fingers and the keyboard on my phone.

Skip your step 5 and 6. No need for full editor. No need for clicking on the picture icon.

For your 7 just paste the “hot link for forum” into the body of your campfire reply.

Yesterday Postimages started acting up on me so I couldn't try out your suggested method. Today I gave it a try.
You are correct it is "faster" in that there are a total of two fewer clicks on the mouse to do what you're describing, as I just used your method to post three images to a new listing for some brass I'm selling.

I think we can agree that getting the images onto the Postimages site is common to both. From that point forward, you might save a second, max. But I'll take a second less off my life any day - LOL. Learn something new every day.

Rex

Same on my computer, blue squares.

I’ll be damned, even an old Marine can do it!
Today I see a few blue squares too, but most the pictures are still there. Every once in a while postimages has fits and doesn't work perfectly. I attribute that to not having a paid account.

What a dink……..I don’t waste my time learning digital. I’m analog.

Ive never had a computer…built guns with folks you can’t understand their skills.

I’m doing a Britte action from Stephen Dodd Hughes. Built in the 1930s buried till 1999

With the help of D’Arcy Echols I found a man to stock it. He learned and worked stocking shotguns at H&H.

I’m sending him a $2000 chunk of wood to do this side lock.

But with your input I realize that would be a mistake….. he has no cell phone and can’t even text a picture.

Thank you for your brilliant logic.

And I’m paying him cash. As I usually do when I buy things on the fire.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
No it's not that difficult but it is 20yr old outdated technology. How many other forums still use third party image hosting?
Attached files won't allow anything larger than 2MB. iPhone used to let me size them down but now it won't for some reason. Combine that with IMGUR blocked at work, and here I am wanting to post something but can't.
