Depending on what your read these are either designed for tactical use where the bullets needs to penetrate barriers. for hunting, or for both. PPT is protected point with the sharp point cut off to leave a flat end that resist deformation in the magazine from recoil.

The older ones were not bonded but other than that I don’t know.
