I have a Winchester Model 71 deluxe rifle in need of a steel receiver sight, either Lyman or Redfield. The standard was Redfield was the 70F and 80F, however, the 102F works also. The Lyman is the 56W71 or 66MA. I am watching eBay, and a few other sights, but if you have one or know where to get one, please let me know and thanks.

There was one listed here in the classifieds a couple of days ago.
Good luck,
Rick
I know the 56w71 is supposed to be the model 71 sight. But, in the dozens of 71s I've seen with Lyman 56 sights, they have all been 56A. I don't think I've ever seen a 56w71
I have seen the 56A also. But Lyman says 56W71. They also said 66MA but I have seen 66A used. The issue is that the 56A and 66A are also used on other firearms that do not have a flat receiver. It is pretty confusing.

I think 56 and 66 sights were only for flat side receivers, 57 & 48 were for round receivers.

According to the book "OLD GUNSIGHTS" by Nick Stroebel, the Lyman 56 application codes were:

56A- winchester 1892, 1894, 1886, Models 53, 55, 64, 65, 71, 1885, 87 Single Shot, Remingon Model 14 & 141.
56B- Winchester Model 1903, 63, 61, Marlin Models 1894, 36.
56BSA- BSA Model 12, Martini action rifles.
56C- Remington Models 14, 141, 25, Marlin Models 39, 39A, 1897, Savage Models 1903, 1914, 1929, Stevens Model 75.
56LA- Marlin 336.
56MB- Marlin Models 1893, 1894, 36.
56MC- Marlin Models 39, 39A, 1897.
56R12- Remingon Models 12, 121, 25, Savage Models 1903, 1914, 29, Stevens Model 75.
56S- Savage Model 99
56W- Marlin Model 1893.
56W71- Winchester Model 86 and 71.
Well, if anyone has one that fits the 71, let me know.

Jerry
