Is that the military style bottom metal, and does it have a safety on the bolt as well as the side (can't quite tell from the pic's)?
Nice old warhorse...
Thanks,
John
It does have safety on the bolt and the side. The bottom plate does not open, has lug screw at front and pin in front of trigger guard. Is that military style? I don't know. Could e-mail pic if interested.
lowered price to $275 shipped to your ffl
what kind of groups are you getting with it now?
It will not group at all. Barrel has been floated but glassed only at the pressure point at fore-end. I would have rebarreled it but already have another 25-06.
Guys - I saw this rifle shoot some impressive groups, along with some impressive shots in the field over the last few years.
I have shot the rifle - it's a nicely balanced, good fitting stock IMO, and is nicer than I may have implied when I first brought it up.
Don't know the weight, but it's fairly trim and lightweight, IIRC.
Last groups I saw after barrel went south were probably 5-6 inches, I believe, which in Amigo's book is not grouping at all...
Amigo is an old friend, and straight shooter, so no worries on that front.
Bump...

The script on the side of the receiver is "GEW 98". It means Gewehr (Rifle) 98 in German. Typical WW1 rifle action.
Someone buy this rifle ,I am fighting as hard as I can to not make an offer, I am afraid he might take it and I don't need another project.

Go on, Hubert, take the plunge!
You know you'll never get into a custom any cheaper, especially with with this kind of character and quality!

OK guys, I'll ship it for $260. Lots of prospects for this action and stock. It's downed lots of deer, hogs, and coyotes. If I needed another gun, I'd rebarrel it myself.
Lowered price to $250. Somebody make me an offer.
Bump for a nice rifle.
We played with the trigger a little, and it came down very light with ease, and Amigo shot it there for years. We didn't play with overtravel a bunch, but from what I can tell, the buyer is going to get an awfully nice trigger on this rig.
Somebody is going to get a lot for their money on this one...
