Home
I picked this up a couple months ago, but have decided to stay with my 350 Rem Mag. So onto another 35 cal lovers home.

Remington model 700 BDL in 35 Whelen. Metal and stock are both nice. The previous owner drilled a hole in front of the receiver for some type of safari sight. The hole is plugged with a filler.

I shot a few 225 Accubonds and some 250 gr Hot-Cor bullets through the rifle. It shoots nice. If I did not just find a match Remington 673 rifle (350 Rem Mag and 6.5 Rem mag) then this would have been a keeper.

Could you please explain what that is in front of the sight?
is the hole all the way through?
what is it filled with?
It looks like at one time there was some big glass on the gun and the rear sight needed to be moved forward to get it out of the way . Looks like wax was put in the hole to prevent rust . Just guessing but thats what it looks like to me .
The hole was for some sort of safari sight. It had a wax or silicone put into the hole. I pulled that out tonight. The hole looks to be tapped and does NOT go through the barrel.

Thanks

Off the market. Will work up more loads and shot to compare to my 338 WM.

Will dump a Tikka to pay for the new range finder instead.
