Try paddeswap.com and see what you find, you can search for used boats geographically. Academy also has good prices if you buy new and have one in the area.

Good luck.

Forget the canoe, kayak is the way to go, get a 12 or 14 ft for fishing, 10 ft is a little small in my opinion. Dagger or wilderness are good, make sure the seat is comfortable and padded. Also spend a little more and buy a good paddle not the cheap ones. I do a lot of fishing around docks and Lilly pads for bass and love it..

Not necessarily.

It's kinda like guns; it's hard to find one that will be great at everything.

I have four canoes, from a 12 foot solo up through a 17 footer.

Also have three kayaks, a 14, a 15, and a 17 footer.

Have had a tandem and a couple smaller whitewater boats in the past (gave that up for the more peaceful lake paddling).

Check out www.paddling.net for another classified board searchable by state.

Have fun!

Native watercraft canoe for me....great fishing canoe for 1 or 2 people.

Get the kayak. The wind will have less effect on it on open water. kwg

You will have a blast fishing out of a kayak. I bought one 2 years ago and catch more and bigger bass on small waters than I ever did when I went through the 70mph hydroblaster stage. Great fun having an 8lb bass or redfish pulling you around. Great exercise also.
Try Austin Kayak, they run a lot of specials and have unbelievable customer service.

I bought a Malibu Stealth 12(Austin does not carry that brand) but look at Wilderness Tarpon 12 or Native Manta Ray 12; both good boats. They will ship to a commercial location for $19 or residential for $49.
By the way, invest in a good paddle, its your engine;I spent $250 on a carbon fiber Accent.

Paddle on
