Was at the LGS today and saw a very nice, nearly new Marlin MR7 chambered for the .25-06.

Crappy Bushnell scope, Meh Leupold base/rings, but superb condition walnut/blue rifle.

Priced at $399.

These were some pretty darn nice rifles and only made for a few years.

I took some cellphone pics but if there isn't any interest I won't bother to post them.

Just letting you guys know.
Would sell pretty well over at MarlinOwners.com
Ken I'm linking this to MarlinOwners if you don't mind
Don't mind at all Matt but if you'd wait an hour or so I'd like to give the Campfire first shot at it.

Pics being posted now.

Looks good, how do they work?
I've never shot one but this was Marlin's attempt to make a very high quality rifle to compete with the M70's and 700 BDL's of the world.
A mish-mash of features from other rifles like the M70 safety, a 700 boltface and other stuff.

Pretty nice rifles from all appearances.
Check out the full wrap checkering pattern on the forend.
To bad it wasn't a lefty, i'd take it..
If it were a lefty you wouldn't have had the chance as it'd be mine. grin
They work well. That is nice. I hate quarter-bores though. Somebody should buy that thing..........
These Marlin are a fine gun .Also they group better then most name brands .Iwill say right up there with Savage There great
Here's the website for the store it's at if anyone wishes to call.

If you can talk to Scott, the owner, that would be best but I'm sure the other guys there would work with you too

I've owned one of these in .280 Rem. They were very well executed in fit & finish and are very accurate for a factory rifle. They were made from 1996 thru 1999 & chambered in four calibers, .270 & .30-06 and the rarer .25-06 & .280. The rifle in question is priced quite reasonable for the condition.
This one is SPF. FYI - it's going to end up as a young hunter's first (and probably only) deer rifle.....thanks for the heads-up.
Oh why I'm I stuck in a hospital bed right now. I want it!! The MR7 are great rifles!
Happy to hear someone on the campfire got it, especially a young hunter, was a nice rifle. I had to tie my hands so I could not call the store Wed morning. Nice heads up/FYI to the original poster who offered it up. smile
A friend has one in 257 Robert's, really nice gun and shoots very well. To bad Marlin has trouble with bolt action rifles. This MR 7 and the older RM7's were really nice rifles.
Congrats Nebraska (and lil' Nebraska)
Sweet piece
