Hi all,

I'm selling this very nice early Ruger M77 6mm Remington flat bolt. According to Ruger's web site, it was made in 1969. The fellow I got it from said his dad bought it new in 1970. So I am the second owner. I personally have never shot this rifle. I got it with the intentions, but I also have a .223 and end up taking that out for groundhogs, as the shots around where I hunt are not usually that far. And after a near miss in the safe, I decided it's better to sell it than to ruin it with a $300 gun!

The gun has a period correct Weaver V9 3-9 power scope with adjustable objective. Both scope and rifle are in excellent condition, spending most of the last 40+ years in the cabinet.

There are more photos in the photobucket album. Look them over. Here are the only defects I can find. There are two miniscule imperfections in the stock. Had to take close up of these because they didn't show in the overall views. These are seen in the photobucket album. That is all I can find with the stock or metal. The other item concerns the butt pad. The top has some black markings on it and the bottom has what appears may have been a small peice missing. Maybe 1/6" thick and the size of a dime. Again, see pics for the details. And I should also mention that the scope has a TINY bump in the fine part of the duplex. Probably about 1/2 as thick as the width of the fine duplex amd 1/10 the length of the fine part of the duplex. Again, VERY minor, (couldn't get it to show in a pic) but I'm mentioning every little detail. Let me know if you'd like any additional specific info.

For now I'd like to sell as a package for $800 plus actual shipping. Depending on where you live should be between $15-35.

Nice. free bump for a clean flat bolt

Very nice! The detail in fit & finish plus Douglas barrels made the early flat bolts the best of all the tang safety M77's IMHO.

I love 6mm's - very nice

Carried a 6mm FlatBolt as my primary for years. Also had a FB Swift and for a brief period one in a .243. I would still be packin the 6mm, but I had to keep a modified 660 6mm that I got as an 8th grade graduation present in 1970. I like it too. (-:

The FlatBolts are awesome rifles, built before production efficiency mods were made! Hard to find. And this one looks to be a really nice one.

What is the twist rate? Will this stabilize 100 grain bullets?

I have not measured it, but I read a lot about this when I first got the gun. The predecessor to the 6mm Remington was the .244 Remington. (identical cartridge, different name). But the guns chambered for the .244 were a 1:12 twist. This would not stabilize heavier bullets and the .244 lost popularity to the .243 Winchester. So Remington changed the name to 6mm and the twist rate to 1:9 for the rifles chambered for it. (by the way, I got this info from the Ruger forum.)

So, in a nutshell, it will stabilize 100 gr bullets.
