Selling a brand new, in the box Winchester model 70 .270 win made about 2 years ago at the new Winchester plant in Columbia SC by FN.. It is the Grade III with the fancier stock. Some more features are the MOA trigger, controlled round feed, and the factory recoil pad. Wood is very nice and it is the featherweight with the schnabel forend. In the photobucket pics I tried to show the difference between the standard stock model 70 and the grade III
It has only been out of the box for photos

Just a hint--if part of your sales pitch is the quality of the wood, including some photos of it would help you out.

?? 3 of the 5 allowed photos show the wood/stock? Are they not visible somehow?

They are, but the lighting or formatting is pretty dark, the grain doesn't pop much as they are listed.

JMO, it might be worth it to take some outside in the sunlight.

No offense but the grain does not appear to be that of other Grade III wood from the Winchester series model 70's - for one, that stock is from a slab-sawn blank and not quarter-sawn as most fancy wood stocks are - I would return that to Winchester and ask is it possible that it was mis-labeled and sold has a higher-grade rifle. A dealer that I know had that happen with a New Haven model years ago and returned it to Winchester and they put an unbelievable stock on it at no cost.

It looks spot on with what it should be... Perhaps you are talking about the super grade?

Upon looking at several standard Winchester featherweight model 70's produced in the last 6 years, there is no comparison to the grade 3 that I have here.. The standard are all straight grain while this one has very nice, quarter grain throughout... Did you look at the photobucket pictures that I posted?

Not trying to schit on your sale - just trying to help. I've had a pile of these and that is about as average as the wood gets. I second the suggestion of contacting Winchester.

I always thought my 2008 limited fwt had a "grade III" stock. I guess I was mistaken...

What is up with everyone? Go look at the Winchester Model 70 website and look at what they sell. Regular featherweight VS the grade III. Grade III from FN which is Browning which is Winchester is exactly what I have for sale. NOT a super grade, not something from 15 years ago, not from an aftermarket supplier.

On a side note, regular ones are $880 msrp and the grade III are $1020 msrp. I paid $925 for mine.

Don't keep digging yourself a hole. Like I said before if someone wants it they will buy it.

Not digging any hole, just supplying info if someone thinks I am trying to sell a standard featherweight as something else.
As it sits now, it has been out of the box twice. If someone wants a grade III, I have one.

Gunbroker is often times a better place to sell a higher priced rifle. I wish you the best of luck selling your nice Winchester fwt rifle...

I am new here but this seams to be the place to get an answer to something I have not been able to find info on. I am a fan of the 6.5X55 and have been using a model 94 Swedish Mauser that I sporterized over 40 year ago, but I have always wanted one with a longer barrel. I was recently able to pick one up in the Winchester Featherweight that has a beautiful stock which bring me to my question, how do I know what grade it is? I read the description of the five different grades but I am not sure just what it means.

I would post a picture but haven't figured how to do it so any help there would also be appreciated. Thanks

DPR64, I apologize for causing a s-storm over this - I certainly never for a second thought that you were attempting to sell a lesser rifle for a true Grade III. I agree with the other posts that the rifle will sell for what it is - a higher-end Model 70 with better fit and finish than the standard grade. I'm sure that the pictures don't do it justice and hope that someone will buy it at the value price for which it is offered. I also agree that GunBroker may be a more productive venue to sell this. Again, my apologies for making you feel that you had to defend your rifle and yourself - I thought I was helping.
