I have 2 sets of a circa 70’s Gerber Legendary Blades of Oregon combo knife set with a “Pixie” and “Flayer” knife in one sheath. These knives are very rare and have commanded up to $700 in unused condition. I checked eBay and other knife seller websites, these knives have sold for $250-$350 in a lot worse condition then mine.

These knives were bought as Christmas gifts for my two older brothers from our dad. I inherited both sets and used to hunt the darker handled blades for over 20 years. Combined, these knives have seen countless hides from our family.

Both knife sets are in excellent condition. Blades are straight, no corrosion, and very sharp. The sheaths are in good condition and ready to be hunted. Our family, being very middle class poor always took great care of our hunting gear. These knives and blades show the care given.

Ideally, I would sell these together to a guy who has a couple boys/girls coming into their own as hunters. As many know, the wife and I didn’t have any kids for me to pass these on too. I want to have a hand in moving these on to a family of hunters instead of when I’m dead my gear just gets sold at an estate sale or worse, a yard sale.

You will not find a better knife than an old Gerber. I have around 40 metal handle Gerbers. The set I bought are actually out of the sixties. The other set is a great buy at what he’s asking. The combo sets are getting hard to find.

This last pair are the blades I used for 20 years. I believe these knives are made out of a hard tool steel. I can't remember if it's M2 or A2. Then chrome plated to keep from rusting.
I have the model called an A425.

A friend and I asked a Gerber rep at the shotshow in about 1995 why they discontinued them. He said they were expensive to make and just didn't sell well enough because of the retail price to keep making.

my friend skinned and quartered an 4x4 elk with a A425 and it would still shave the hair off his arm when he finished.
