Don’t understand CA adding to shipping costs. There’s no additional regulations, not for asomething like this.

It is my understanding that firearm shipments to CA must be from an FFL registered with the state of CA. If that is not the case for this rifle, extra charges will not apply.

Nope. Not the case. I buy from private parties all the time and they just have to ship straight to my ffl with a copy of their drivers license.
