Another safe queen that needs a new home. This is not a collector's gun--this is a shooter's gun. If you know Model 61's, you know they're the smoothest slide-action .22 ever made. This one is a lot of fun to shoot and is set up to be a practical hunter's gun.

Winchester Model 61
22 Short, Long or Long Rifle
Pachmayr 1/2" pad, 13.5" LOP
Sling swivels (I do not know if they are factory or not; they work great and are very handy)
Weaver J2.5x scope, El Paso made, plain cross-hair reticle. Glass is clean and clear and adjustments are positive.
Side scope mount drilled and tapped into the receiver; scope and mount are removable and the rifle retains its factory front and rear sights.
The receiver of the rifle is not grooved for scope mounting.

Price is $750 shipped to your FFL in a plastic hard case. Rifle will ship from an FFL via FedEx. Payment by check or money order; no trades at this time. Thanks.

Who ever mounted that scope should be shot.Just lost 100-150 in value
Lots of people need to be able to see what they’re trying to shoot and don’t care about $150??

Just picked up a few older Remington pumps or id be seriously considering this one
I agree that my eyes tell me that that scope mount is okay and it's a fine looking rifle. I just can't see those open sights anymore.
I like it, speaks to another time. Tagging it in hopes I have that much buried in the safe.
It is a fine old gun, and the scope is period correct.
if it was a grooved receiver variant it would be 1600.00
nice!

It's unlikely that a person could walk into a gunshop w/$750 and come out with a BETTER 22LR than is being offered here.

bump.
Will you throw that praying mantis in the deal?
Mantis not included grin

Question:
Have you ever had the scope mount off to see what things look like under it?

Disclaimer:
I am not trying to hack your m61 in any way. It looks great and the mount looks to be done well.
My 60 year old peepers don't need the magnification yet and I would much rather shoot thru irons.

The mantis does look to be kind of a dink anyway. grin
Yes, I have removed the mount and the receiver beneath is clean and looks like the rest of the receiver; there is no rust, pitting or marring from the mount. The mount is not a "quick detach" but does come off easily and return to zero is close enough for metallic silhouette shooting at 50 yards grin
Other than the addition of the butt pad and possibly the sling mounts, the stock is original? Finish wise?

I kinda like the rubber on the butt, keeps it from sliding away into one of those notorious "safe dings".
Finish on the stock appears original; very similar to my Winchester 62's and 69's from the same era. When I bought the gun it already had a Pachmayr white-line pad installed so I replaced that with the plain-black pad for exactly that reason: it stops the gun from sliding around on my shoulder or in the rack at the range or safe.
Just add a nice leather sling and you'll be set for squirrel season...
