For sale is a Remington Rolling Block rifle in 7MM Mauser caliber. I am not sure how to determine which specific model this is as no serial number can be located. It is in very good condition overall. It locks up tight. The bore looks good. It appears to be complete and all original. Apparently modern factory loads are too hot for these rifles and there may be headspace issues. Fire-formed handloads are apparently the way to go. No reason to believe this rifle would not make a good shooter.

Cool rifle, they were built for the British Royal Navy for use by mine sweeper crews in WW1. I have no experience as to the strength with modern loads .

How would a person go about determining if a Remington Rolling Block in 7x57 was made for the British and isn't one of the tens of thousands 1897 and 1902 that Remington make for countries in Central and South America?

That is what I would like to know. Anyone know?

british proof marks on barrel is one way

The patent date is Oct 22, 1901. Both barrel bands are stamped with a "U" on left side. Letters stamped into wood where end of lower tang meets stock -- either "HGI" or "IHD" or similar.

There should be a steel cleaning rod -- mine is missing that part.
