Some people refer to any pre-'64 with the shorter magazine box as a "short action," such as those chambered for the .257 Roberts or .308 Winchester.

I know these mounts will fit my rifle, because it's a .257 Roberts with a 1936 serial number, purchased from hunthard a couple weeks ago.
