dont want to sell right now...my cousian just wants to kmow about what it worth...Marlin Model 336A in 35 Rem...mfg in 1970...comes with a period military style leather sling...has not been drilled and tapped for scope...has the iconic waffle top...24 in barrel...has been hunted with and has some scars to show for it but nothing major...i assume deer/bear blood spots on receiver and has been covered up with cold blue

That $ range plus or minus but pic's tell it all.

Thought all 336's after 1954 were drilled for scope bases. I'm hardly an expert on Marlins though.

if it's a waffle top it was made before 1958 give me the letter before the Ser. number I can tell you what year it was made

I thought the waffle-top was only made for 1 or 2 years back in the 1950's....

Yup

It’s not a waffle top made in ‘70. They ended in the 50’s. A 70’s model was drilled from the factory. Pics would help as well as first of serial number.
Good luck to him,
Rick

My bad...it has a G serial number...I was just going by what my cousin said...mfg in 1950...only way i can do pics is via text....no email of any type
Posted By: OlRufus Re: Deceased Uncles rifle - 02/15/20
A G would be 1950 but they were not factory drilled and would have the waffle top.

As this 1 is..."NOT drilled and tapped" and he has about decided on a sales price...is there any serious member interest
Posted By: AZtwins Re: Deceased Uncles rifle - 02/15/20
Interested? - yes. How interested would depend on price.
I witnessed a dealer pay $415 for one that was pretty nice about 4 years ago.

415.00 would get my shoulder dislocated. I for some reason get weak in the knees for a prime condition waffle top.

Love a waffle.

There is one for sale on Accurate Arms for comparison.

Always looking for waffle tops.

Saw a 1952 waffle top in 35 Rem with side mounted scope today. Want one, but $550 too high..
