Curious what folks suggest as a starting point for a good choke in the above mentioned gun with a 26” bbl.

Mainly shoot 3.5” #2’s from 30-50 yards.

Don’t care to hear opinions about shooting 3.5” shells or pellet size or why I think I’m shooting 50 yards but I’m actually shooting 22 yards or anything else - just looking for some feedback on what you’ve seen for a choke that gives a good pattern out of this gun with steel shot.
I have an A 400 and shoot 3 inch

Use a Carlson mod choke with steel 2 s..
Thanks!

Well shooting 50yds is unethical and 3.5 inch shells should be outlawed
Patternmaster is about all I see for crane and goose hunters here.

That’s what I’ve been using for years on my Benelli. Probably where I’m gonna start for this one, if I’m honest.

50+ yards is sporting. All of my friends tell me I’m “skybusting.” I don’t know what that means but if I hit what I’m aiming at every 4-5 chances, it seems like a good way to go. That’s why I use the 3.5” shells, though. Extra power.
Have you tried using the chokes that came with it on a pattern board? You might be pleasantly surprised. Same if you pattern our 3.5" shells versus 3". Once I actually spent some time on the pattern board I quit wasting my money on 3.5" shells. They sure are not more powerful as they have the same amount of powder in them as the 3" loads. Just my experience.
Because the factory choke says not to use steel shot in the full choke and I usually shoot full.
My goose hunting pard uses a Patternmaster in his Beretta. I have seen him make some unbelievable take downs on geese I thought were to far. Our other Pard hunts with a 10 gauge and is the skybusting king.

I'm sure you will love your new Beretta

I wouldn't personally shoot steel in a full choke but do shoot bismuth and tungsten. in a full choke

That’s why I was looking for something aftermarket that’s a bit tighter like a full choke but made for steel shot.
Nothing beats the factory beretta chokes in my opinion. I use the modified choke in the wide open marsh with #2 shot for all ranges..15-50 yds and sometimes a little further..I have dropped quite a few at over 60 yds stone dead.. modified choke with steel shoots like lead from a full choke anyway
Picked up Patternmaster’s Code Black in both the “Duck” and the “goose” offerings. Will give them a run at the board tomorrow along with the factory modified.

Details to follow.
