LGS has a slightly used camo Maxus in 12ga, 3-1/2" chamber for $700. Seems like quite a good buy to me, its a hole that exists in my gun safe at the moment. Are the Maxus shotguns any good?
700 is a steal. If it were near me it would be bought immediately.
Damn BK you thinking about snow geese allready?
SX3 on steroids.
$700 ?? ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL daaaaaaaaaay !!!
$700 is a no brainer, I don't need it but would buy it for that
Thanks that is what I think too. Ha no snow geese for me but I might go shoot a black goose sometime
I did the deal, thanks all.
What choke tubes do people like in these? I'll probably use it on turkeys and geese.
Is that the Invector DS system or still Invector +?
Maxus uses the Invector Plus. The A5 uses the Invector DS.
If you're going to use it for turkeys, there are lots of tubes out that will work well. Pattern a number of loads with the full choke that comes with the gun. It will give you benchmark for comparisons.
I've used the Browning 12 Gauge Invector-Plus Midas Grade extra full in my Maxus II and it patterns lead turkey loads very well:

In my Invector + barrel I have found an original Star Dot and a Hastings .685 work pretty good, maybe too good with Longbeards.
What barrel length is this Maxus?
I think its 28, seems quite long. Thanks for the tips.
For turkeys, an Indian Creek BDS tube and a 1200 fps Winchester Longbeard XR shell .......... 4, 5 or 6 shot. Take your pick.
