They stopped making the English stocked 48 AL awhile back and I had been wanting one in 28ga badly. Found this one in a Pawn Shop. The wood sealed the deal...

very nice.. I have an old AL48-12 and it shoots like a dream.
That is some beautiful wood for a 48 AL. I had a 20 GA 48 AL which was a Jim Dandy grouse gun; Very light and quick.

NB
Can't find the words, that is one sweet shotgun!

Yeah, I don't know how I lived without it. I carried it on one dove hunt and had very few birds, but what little shooting I did with it hooked me. It is so light and handy and fits me perfectly. Just need to find some birds to give it a better workout!
WOW...I've heard good things about those 48ALs in 28 gauge... and with that wood, I would have bought it for sure... and I currently own nothing but SxSs (well, I have a BPS that I got when I was about 12).

Same here,,, I'm not much for auto loaders but I do know that those 48's are a cut above most auto's.
Pretty sure I would have had a hard time passing up that one up too.
Enjoy
WOW that is a sweet little gun... Good find

Yeah, it's factory. This is their "Deluxe" grade but the wood is far better than any Deluxe I've seen. They make 3 grades: Standard with matte metal and plain wood, Deluxe with polished metal and upgraded wood, and the Fenice in their World Class line that has a nickeled receiver, engraving, gold inlays and exhibition grade wood. I've seen some wood on the Fenice guns that looked like it should have been on a Purdey, but I've also seen some with wood that was nowhere as good as this lower grade Deluxe. I'd have bought it even with plain wood because I wanted the discontinued English stock, but I felt pretty fortunate to get the wood as an added bonus!
they sure are a nice great handling gun for sure.I was surprised at how much the 28 kicked but then you figure these franchi's don't weigh nothing.
