I have been shooting an A400 EXCELL for trap since late January, about 100 rounds weekly (or more some weeks) with no problems until Saturday when I had a double fire with one trigger pull. Research on lines suggests this has been previously reported, variously attributed by some to light hold, and to bounce off due to the "Kick-Off" recoil reduction stock. I wonder if anyone here has had that experience or can suggest a cause.
Has it happened again? Light hold will do it, but that isn't the fault of the "Kick-Off." I may have around 25,000 out of the same shotgun in the past and it never happened. Then again, maybe the hammer didn't catch for some reason. It's a semi and it wouldn't be the first one to go full auto and then never do it again.

Krieghoff's are famous for doubling from a too light hold and the subsequent shoulder bounce. Again, it isn't the guns fault.

Addition: Since the "Kick-Off" spreads the recoil impulse over a longer period of time, I would think it would reduce the occurrance of a double vs having a harder pad that bounces back faster. I wouldn't be blaming the "Kick-Off" system.
Battue, a light hold is possible I suppose as I was moving right to left (I'm right handed) against a very fast crossing clay, but I've never had that happen before. If you Google "A400 double fire, you will find several references of similar problems dating back to 2012 with at least one convincing video. In any case, the gun is on the way back to Beretta for inspection. Thanks for the response!
Seen a Rem 1100 go full auto. As mentioned Kreighoff's are famous for fan firing with a light hold and bounce. Part of the reason being they set the second barrel so quick. Once wouldn't be enough to cause me concern. In fact, give me a Krieghoff to shoot and it will happen and chances are fairly quickly. Others will shoot it without a problem. Other O/U's I have no problems. But you have to make yourself happy. Good luck with Beretta, Hope they get it back to you quickly. Which is where the luck may come in. The A400 is a fine shotgun. When I shot one, I would go perhaps pushing 5,000 rounds and never touch the insides. With all the rounds I shot out of one, I had less than 10 malfunctions and 2 of them were with the first 25 rounds. Great shotgun.
A little A400 fun.
