I recently acquired an almost new condition Model 409 Beretta 12 GA with Colonial thin wall choke tubes suitable for lead. I would like to shoot steel through it occasionally and noticed that Colonial has "Super Steel Choke Tubes" where the choke is in the extended portion beyond the bbls. Any have any experience with these tubes? Seems like a pretty neat solution!
I got some choke instaling tooling from a gunsmith I bought out years ago.. They were for the thin wall chokes...I installed them in my 870 ...they have been fine....defiantly use the extended choke for steel as it will swell the threads if the choke is internal...
Most better doubles do not have enough space between the barrels to install the larger diameter tubes. One solution is to use smaller shot in a very open choke and just one extended tube... not elegant, but functional.
Good points guys! Thanks
