Need Help. Picked up an Auto 5 16 gauge made in 1948 yesterday. It came with an extra 26" vent rib invector barrel that was made in Japan. I cannot find any information on this during my searches. Can anyone give me any info on if they are still available and approximate value?

Thanks

If what is available, the Jap barrel? Not from the factory, though they can be had as left overs. I think Midwest Gun Works in Imperial, Missouri has new old stock barrels. Look at Art's Gun Shop in Hillsboro, Missouri for all things Auto Five. Art has a website and offers barrels for sale.

Is the Miroku barrel fitted for Invector interchangeable chokes?
It came with original 26" plain barrel with a poly and a Miroku barrel that is fitted for Invector chokes. The Miroku barrel still had the sticker on the muzzle saying to not shoot it without a choke installed and shipping box. I don't think it has ever been fired.

To answer your question you can look on gun broker. The Japanese bbls are said to work on Belgium receivers and are popular with folks that want to shoot steel. Like everything it depends on how fast you want to turn it but I would think it's in the $300-$350 range

My light 12 Belgium receiver has been wearing a Jap screw choke VR barrel for over 3O years with no problems whatsoever.

Just to clarify. The shotgun was wearing a Miroku 26" VR invector barrel that still had the sticker on the end saying to not shoot it without choke tube installed. As I was talking to him, I said it was too bad it didn't have the original barrel. The shop owner said, "Oh I have it, but it has a dang Poly Choke on it" and commenced to pull it from under the counter. We discussed price and then came to an agreement when he threw in a Rem 870 16ga to sweeten the deal. He said, "I just can't seem to move the dang 16's". It was not until I started checking more did I realize the Miroku barrel is worth so much. Still haven't shot the Miroku barrel as I put the original on it as I don't mind the Poly Choke. Grew up with one on a M31 solid rib gun and they remind me of times gone by.

Crappie, if you want to move the Miroku barrel, I'm interested.
