Every so often I think about making some room in the safe. This time the 1927 Remington 17 was being considered for sale. Even took photos to use in an online auction. But picking up and shouldering this relic from a bygone era of quality and pride made the feeling of wanting to get rid of it quickly dissipate. It's off to the trap line to put it through its paces!

That's the daddy of the Ithaca Model 37, and a great little gun.

I learned to shoot on one decades ago. picked up a 4 digit S/N gun a couple of years ago, it will soon be "100" !!
From what I understand, the actual first production year was 1921 on these guns.
Yours is a little cleaner than mine!

Yep! As soon as you pick it up you are in love .

For some reason some of these old guns it looks to me like the barrel is a yard long. Optical delusion of some sort.

Most are 30 inches!!

Well, that's almost a yard.

I think they even made a few in 32 inch. The one I learned on decades ago was a 26 inch, my recently acquired 4-digit S/N gun is a 28 inch.
