My daughter will be 12 this summer and is thin in build. She has expressed interest in shooting and I would like to start her with informal clay shooting. Those with daughters what have you purchased for yours? Thanks.

I got my oldest a 20ga BPS youth model. She shot it OK. Got my middle daughter an 1100 youth 20ga around 2007, but never got the opportunity to get out with her and try it. Both are definitely geared to smaller shooters. Would be ideal with reduced loads, though I doubt the 1100 would function normal with them.

I got lucky and found a new in box Franchi 620, for my daughter Fairy light with light recoil, and flawless operation. Everyone that shoots that gun loves it.

We recently purchased a Remington 1187 compact, in 20 gauge, for my son. So far, it has functioned well, and he shoots it pretty well.

Another gun to consider would be a Winchester SX4, in 20 gauge. It is a recent offering by Winchester.

Turkish made Tristars, Weatherbys, and Mossbergs get pretty good reviews. You may want to check those out as well.

Beretta 390 20ga has been a VERY reliable and soft shooting gun for my daughter. Weight is a factor and the Beretta is light, but with the gas operation, the recoil does not cause problems.

She also really likes her 20ga Browning Gold for deer hunting (no rifle Illinois.....)

Bought 870 youth models for 2 grandsons, 20 gauges. For 12yr old granddaughter bought a Remington compact with a plastic stock, shorter than the youth models, fits her perfect.

Found a Ruger Red Lable 20 ga for my granddaughter, some good ones can be found at good prices right if one will take the time to look.
