I am wondering if someone knows what Talley bases would fit on a Schultz & Larsen model 68DL (same as models 60 and 65) from the late 1960s. I spoke with Talley, but there was considerable uncertainty...

A Weaver reference chart says that a Weaver #45 base fits on the front while a Weaver #54 fits on the rear. I can't, however, find any information to cross-reference for Talley bases. Before anyone says it is not possible, there is a photo of a Schultz & Larsen 65DL with Talley bases and mounts on page 232 of Terry Wieland's Great Hunting Rifles. So, the Talley bases exist for this rifle, but which ones?

Many thanks in advance for any offers of help.

Below is a synthesis of the information I was able to find as of July 2020 on scope bases for the Schultz & Larsen 68 DL:

1) Redfield SL-60 steel dovetail bases (front and rear use same number). These are vintage bases with windage screws on the rear base. Modern Weaver steel rings will fit theses bases. (This information is verified);

2) Weaver slotted bases (steel and aluminium). According to the Weaver base chart, the S&L rifles use #45 in the front and #54 in the rear;

3). After lengthy researching with Talley, they recommend their base ensemble #252736 (front and rear). I have not been able to verify, but they look correct in the images I have seen.

I believe the base mounting screws are standard 6-48 screws (.200 slotted screw head).

Hope this information may be useful for other S&L vintage rifle owners.

Danny
