What would you buy? Eastern whitetail hunter with the last 5 min of light being of the upmost importance.
I get good results from porro prism binoculars. The tradeoff is weight and bulk, but the optics and particularly the low-light performance is comparable to much more expensive Abbe Koenig binoculars. I won't recommend a particular brand or model because of my lack of broad experience with many, but Steiner is a brand that offer this type in that price range. Nikon are considerably lower-priced and still offer a lot of low-light performance for the buck.

Tract demos can be had for 550 or so but they go fast. Get on their mailing list. They are the best bargain in binos IMO at full retail price.
