I.like the looks of the ashley performance base for a marlin 336 in 44 rem mag. Was going to mount a weaver classic 1x3 scope in luppy bases. Will I have to take the rear buckhorn sights off to accommodate this?

Doubt it

The two different types of XS sights I have used both required it.
