Remington model 7 16.5 barrel with a muzzle brake need something for low light
What about a low power variable?
Or maybe a swfa 6x that’s as long as your snout, and weighs as much as the shootin iron!! Haha
No problem. When you touch that thing off, everything in front of it for a considerable ways will be well-illuminated😱
1-6, 2-7, 3-9 max.
Looking around a 3x9x50 or a 4x12x50 furthest shot will be 300 yards at last possible shooting light liked the Nikon on other guns but no longer available

lol....good point, comes with its own headlamp.....
Early Bird, what's your target budget?
4.5x14 Leupold is what I have on the two I own.
A bit more than your $ but the SHV 3-10x42 is a great fit for the M7 action. It's a short scope but matches up really well with M7 actions due to the tube length/ring spacing.
I think these are still a bit hard to come by, but since it's for a deer rifle, probably worth the weight.

Slightly above your price point but the guy that runs the place is a member here and likes for people to call him to negotiate. He might drop in on this thread and let you know what he has.

Id go with a VX-FREEDOM 3-9 with the tri moa reticle.
Problem with the 50s is they are pretty big for a rifle the size of yours. Still, if you commonly require low-light goodness, you probably don’t want to skimp on objective size, depending on the terrain, cover, etc on those 300-yard pokes. What works in an open field might have trouble in the shade at the edge of forest. I have a couple with 56mm objectives, but they’re pretty big and heavy.
Leupolds VX-3 and better are pretty bright, but well, you know.... Maybe someone can recommend a Meopta that they’ve used.
My .308 lightweight hunter has a Vortex 1.5-8x32 Razor on it with the #4ish reticle.
I wish it had an illuminated reticle, but it hasn't left me unable to see or shoot in legal light yet. Legal=1/2 hour before sunrise, after sunset here.
Leupold 2.5-8 would work, or if you want a big objective for low light and can accept more weight, I like my Meopta Optika 6 that Doug sold me recently. Given the recommendations above, I suggest that it is time to get Doug's opinion.
This or a 1.75-6x Leupold.
I have an 8 x 56 on a Ruger Scout with a 16.5" barrel that works good in low light. I like it a lot.
A more versatile setup would be something like a 1.5 x 6 x 42 like I have on another carbine or others around that range mentioned here.
I like the Vortex Viper 2 X 7 BDC sadly they have been discontinued, hold zero and adjustments work!
I just mounted a Weaver Classic 3-9X in Talley LW's on my recently acquired Mauser M12 308 Win. I hope it all works on it's maiden voyage tomorrow. Cheap rifle, cheap scope, cheap mounts.
I use a S&B 1.5-6x50 for hunting. Don’t worry about shooting in low light.
All of my .308’s wear a 3-9x40...Zeiss, Meopta, Leupold’s.
My 1 model 7 is a .243 and it wears a Leupold fixed 4x.
My 308 is fitted with a 2016 model Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 and it's a damn fine scope.

Small rifle = small scope. I use a VX2 2-7 on my 308.It's one of my favourite small scopes.
