What is recommended for off season for batteries in illuminated scopes . Will these 2032 corrode and destroy your scope .

I know you're supposed to take them out, but luckily I have yet to have any issues.

It was the condensation, not the battery that took mine out. I thought what a great concept for night time varmint hunting in the winter. Bring a cold thing into a warm environment and you get condensation. First and last illuminated scope that I’ve owned. It was an early Bushnell.

I leave mine in. But I live in the high desert of Colorado. Where I live I get roughly 9 inches of rain a year. Humidity isn't a factor here with it's associated problems.

I leave it in but replace it yearly anyway.

Condensation is a big part of our weather scenario here, but I have never had any issues with scopes & their batteries. I try and change the batteries out every 12-18 months (IF I remember haha).

I haven't had any issues with any 2032's, either....knock on wood.

Do lithium batteries spew? Never had it happen.

Always take mine out. Store them in spare contact lens travel cases. Perfect size!

2032 in a VX-R since 2014ish. Might be time to check it out..

I don’t take mine out but always change batteries in all my gizmos before every season. I’ve never had a 2032 go bad. Happy Trails

No problems as yet, even when some dummy put them away with the light on. I have spares tucked into cases and in my hunting pack.

On a related note, I’ve sworn off the Copper Tops for all time after finding brand new ones leaking in storage boxes in a drawer. Now, it’s Panasonic Eneloop rechargeable in stuff that’s not voltage-sensitive and Energizer Lithium in everything else.

The batteries can most certainly swell. It's just a matter of if and when. While the probability of any battery swelling or leaking is low, it increases with age and depth of discharge. I believe if you change the battery every 12 to 18 months, the risk is pretty low. Keep it in there longer than 3 years and the risk grows significantly.

2032's are zinc air; they can corrode, but its not very common and its more powder than liquid.

Most alkalines, especially Chinese ones, which most of them are, are VERY prone to leaking and corroding.

Rechargeable batteries also aren't prone to leaking as the composition have little to no fluids in them.

Same here.

I take mine out. Drop in a quart ziplock bag. Tie the bag around the scope. No worries and the battery is still with the scope.

When not in use, i remove all battery’s from scopes, ear muffs, headlamps. I had a nice pair of head lamps corrode due to a battery leak and since then I remove after the season.
