Pentax Gameseeker 3-9x50

I have been getting loads of PM's from members that they think it is great to give the membership the chance to check out different optics and get involved with doing tests and writing reviews.
With that in mind I thought I would add a Pentax Gameseeker 3-9x50 into the system. Who would like to test & review this scope? All we ask is that when you receive the scope you test it out, post a review here in this thread, and then ship it to the next person in line to do the same. When you are done testing it just contact me and I will give you the ship to info for the next reviewer.
OK, send me PM's and I will get the rotation set up and ship a scope out today to the first PM.
Again, I want to thank all of you in advance for getting involved.
Happy Holidays.
Nobody has an interest?
I would, but I don't have the time right now ... I'm barely getting any hunting/shooting in at the moment, and things aren't really looking like they're going to open up anytime soon ...

I'm sure someone around here could use a free loaner scope for a while though ...
I'll test the Pentax 3x9x50....
Hey what about Stick........sorry guys day off and I am feeling pesky!

Mark D
we could see how well it holds up to 53grain X bullets from a 223AI. Does that constitute a field test?
speaking of that ... I'd love to see how the Zeiss Classic 10x40's hold up to that same "treatment" ... seeing as how they seem to be the "holy grail" of binocs ...

wow, ever heard of humor, WGM?
BTW,
I agree with your assessment of of Pentax probably being more than adequate for the majority of hunting situations,
so nothing personal, OK?
James,
You're the man. I will get one right out to you. Please post your thoughts and let me know when you are ready to send it on to the next tester.
Again, thanks for getting involved.
No problem. I try to keep an open mind about optics. The Pentax 6x42 was a solid scope for under 100 bones...
I would have to think that for under 100 bones it would be a real solid scope.

Sorry if the thread got temporarily hijacked.

Mark D
Absolutely. As long as you post an overall review afterwards please PM your shipping info to me so we can get you on the list.

The smiley face in your post was not necessary for me to see the humor ... my post should have had a smiley as well, just to make it evident to all that my intent was "humor" as well ...

show me a binoc that can take a 53g TSX from a .223AI head-on, and remain unscathed, and I'll be first in line to buy that product ...
I'll give it a whirl if there is still some testers needed. Doug, you have a PM.
If you want it tested in extreme cold, I can handle that for you.

Curious here and to noone in particular.

Why are Bible Thumpers the first in line, for handouts?

Just curious...............
Another curiosity question,when did a "test & review" become a "handout" ?
When "free" enters the vocabulary.

Am curious to know the number of participants who buy their goods, that are in the ranks of the handout.

Correlate,please?!?.................

Don't see anything free here:

We are offering an opportunity for the members to test & review optics. This is a great way to get honest opinions of different items from the guys that are out there using the stuff. Plain and simple. Not some magazine writers view, Your view.
If you are interested in getting involved, great. Just PM me with your ship to info and we will get you in the rotation.
I am testing the scope because I would like to try one of these scopes before I think about buying one, and I am sure others would like an unbiased opinion. I am not brand loyal, and currently own scopes by Leupold, Burris, Docter, Pentax, Nikon and Sightron.

Doug, my post was in response to Big Stick's question, not your offer.

I think it's a great way to review a scope!

'Cause you don't offer to send me a 6x42 to try out...

Doug, you could have Yukoner send it my way once he's done with it...

SS
Doug,

Glad to see you doing a test and review. It's a great way to put an eyeball on optics one wouldn't normally see. Nothing like actually using a product before posting a review...

May wind up buying the Pentax 3x9x50mm. Was impressed w/ the 6x42 as a great low budget scope for under a 100 bones. I can see folks buying them for loaner guns, kids, in-laws,etc...

Thanks again Doug, you're a class act...
Cheaha: Don't break it before I get it! LOL
Stick-

I'd like to have you put it through a Paradise Program and give a detailed account of +/- features. YMMV!

I'll be gingerly....

I mounted the 6x42 on a Ruger 44mag Carbine and ran off a couple hundred rounds. It fared well for such a short test.

I'm really impressed w/ the clarity and resolution. Not everyone can afford or wants to spend mega bucks on a scope for a knock about gun. I can see the Pentax Gameseekers filling a niche quite nicely...
Cant believe youve stooped to trolling. I thought you were above that. Also remember when you tried to run Doug off. How you miserably failed and how wrong you were!

There goes another thread..........
I never tried to run Doug off,my stance was/is simplistic,in that I've better things to do than jump through hoops to establish a price.

That simply ain't my gig and I'm happy that you is a consumate Hoop Jumper.

Rock on..................
Have had enough Pentax, that the notion do not interest me...................
I'm a Christian, and I'll test the scope.
Bummer...on both counts...............
I've some hoops for you. Call Doug, get a price, and then try to beat it........and try....and try......and try.....
Yup, I'm real glad I'm one of the elect, and I'll gladly test that scope Doug...

Think of it as a public service to the 'fire!

It'll get boolits from the muzzle to 100 yards I imagine, but many probably would like to know what the scope's limits are before reaching that point. Think on it maybe.

Larry has reached a new low with his pizzing all over a paying advertiser's thread. He now has no respect for RickBin,Doug @ Cameraland or anyone else on the Campfire. Sad that the bottle has reduced Larry to nothing more than a Troll...

He is exhibiting the classic example of the alcoholic term "delusions of granduer". He speaks gibberish and bile yet he somehow considers it to be some profound statement.

The Campfire sees you for what you are Larry, a little sad pathetic alcoholic Troll.....
Laffin'.

You and Casper The Friendly Ghost cruise websites for gear, peruse catalogs for same...and get giddy about the pricing in both, being Fictional.

I'm a simple creature, that prefers his info above board, less wrangling. At least some outfits toss a guy a simplistic "POR" outta the gate,so he isn't jerked.

Bloody Mary time,I've a long drive.........................
I don't "cruise" and "peruse" and Doug don't "jerk". Can't see how you'd know either of two. There your ass goes talking agian....
I was one of the ones that didn't understand Doug and Cameraland's biz model when he showed up.

For me it was a WTF moment. Much like using turrets to reach out and touch something, but you don't know what you don't know.

But I see it differently now, I like doing biz with Cameraland a lot.

Folks know of what they speak, really helpful, good prices (but you gotta know the Campfire secret handshake, grin) and all it takes is a phone call.

My guess is if a guy searched really hard he could find a better price on some of the same gear Doug offers.

But I ain't got the inclination to search much.

If I can be reasonably assured of getting what I want at a decent price IOW not being gouged, you've earned my biz.

Doug's earned it (along with his staff) and I'm appreciative Rick Bin saw fit to steer him our way.

Don't mean I'm hanging up my Classics anytime soon.

But I certainly don't mind a phone call to Cameraland when I need something. YMMV
Doug had always treated me fair and with respect. I for one, appreciate his company and his being an advertiser on the Campfire. Can't imagine why anyone would feel compelled to pizz all over his threads...

Anyway, hope everyone has a blessed Christmas and remember that Jesus is the reason for the season....
Doug,

Got the goodie box today. Man that was fast service!

Scope looks great. Will try to mount it and give it a run thru tomorrow. Raining Cats and Dogs today...

I got a feeling you're gonna sell a bunch of these....
I imagine Doug is not allowed to advertise less than manufacture suggested retail. I worked for an outdoor wool hunting clothes company. Our dealers were allowed to sell at whatever price they wanted, but they were not allow to lowball each other by advertising it. Hence "POR".
I have had only good experiences with buying from Doug. The service was exceptionally fast and efficient. He has also been very helpful over the phone and has answered any questions I've had. As to the other nonsense that made it's way into this thread, it's getting really old.

My sentiments, and experience, exactly.
I ordered a camera from Joel last Thursday and received it on Monday. I can't know what they go for elsewhere cause I didn't check. I'll bet I didn't get screwed, probably actually got the best price around. No one can touch their customer service. No reason to ever shop anywhere else if Doug and Joel have it.

Enjoyed chatting w/ you on the phone last night. Will PM you w/ load recipes...

Exactly !!

As RickBin is not allowed to advertise super low Leupold prices.

Standard operating business practice...
Just got in from comparing the Pentax 3x9x50 to a Vari-X III 4.5x14x50. Compared @ dusk. Drizzly, foggy conditions watching a doe feeding in a greenfield. The Pentax PP Reticle actually allowed a later shot than the Std Duplex Leuppy. Resolution and clarity were great. Only question I have is long-term durability.

Guess I'll have to buy this one and see for myself....
Should last for sometime I would think if greenfield hunting in Alabama.
I certainly hope so...

I've got too old to hunt hard. Just enjoy hunting easy nowadays...
That is the point behind many posts, hunting here ain't like hunting over your uncle's peanut field. Standards here are obviously different. What works in Opp, Alabama will most likely not work for a goat hunt in the Misty.

But I'd be willing to bet a Moon-pie and a RC that what works here will work in Opp..............

My big game career begun in SE Alaska and I continue to use what works when everything is wrong, not when everything is just right.
Thank you for sharing that S-Head.

Whenever there is a thread specifically regarding SE Alaska, I will ponder your wisdom...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we're discussing good budget level optics on this thread...
Methinks you need to discuss good hemroid cream.........
Doug,

PM sent

RH
Where's Paul? Has he figured you out too?
Wish I could swing buy the Cell phone company and pick up some more bullets. I don't believe a thing she told me bout you, don't worry........
'roads,

I went shopping once, after reading about it in F&S..............

Troy,

You get the info ???
James, yes and a big thank you! That one load with the RL-25 absolutely has my head spinning.
1Ak, nicely said.

Would add, while perhaps a guy could shave one or ten dollars off Doug's prices (maybe), for me that'd be stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime. Doug's Customer Service is second to none, period.

In a day and age where customer serivce calls are routed to New Delhi or a guy is given promises that aren't kept, that's worth more than one or ten dollars...
I think Brad hit the nail on the head...
Just how much is good service after the sale worth?
Hard to quantify, yet it is significant, in my mind.
Certainly worth 10, 20 even 50 bucks where a scope is concerned, IMHO

Brad,

Well said...

Doug had earned my business. I like to deal with folks who are honest and fair...

Don't get me started on New Delhi Customer reps...

Yeah, It's amazing what big gulps of super slow burning powder combined w/ a 30" tube will do for velocity...

Nice level of performance if you can stand the weight...
Doug,

Let me just pay you for this one and you can send another to the next in line. Mounted it on a 7RM and she appears to be a fine scope for the money. Gonna give my son-in-law this new-ish 700 BDL and might as well throw in a scope to complete the deal.

Tested it @ 100 yds on paper and then tested the 120gr V-Max on a deer head. Good God Almighty! There was major carnage to say the least...
