whats the size of the dot i the leupold dot reticle?

I'm assuming you want to know how much the dot covers at 100 yards? It depends on the magnification. The Leupold 2005 catalog "reticle subtension table" shows the target dot in a VX-III, 6.5 -20 covers 0.9" @ 6.5, 0.3" @ 20. They list others as well. Hope this helps. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

the scope is a variX III 3.5-10x50 w/ Leupold daot. i dont know if there is a difference between that and a target dot.

VX-III, 3.5 -10 w/Leupold dot covers 3.5" @ 3.5, 1.2" @ 10 as per the folks at Leupold.

When you have blacked out its head....squeeze the trigger!
That is a pretty big dot.

Elkhunter76, where are you finding that info, I've always been curious about the custom shop where you can have them put dots for 300, 400, 500 etc per your request. Do you know if you can specify the size of the dot? Was thinking about them on a 6x42, any thoughts?

The latest Leupold catalog I had was a 2005 version. The information I posted is listed in the tables in the back. I would be willing to bet that if you contacted Leupold you could get more detailed information. The size of the dot is relative to the magnification setting. The higher the magnification the smaller the dot will appear. The crosshair is fixed and doesn't change with the power setting.

I would think that you could specify a dot size on a custom request.

I've been using the Burris Ballistic Mildot and Ballistic Plex lately and also the Leupold Boone and Crockett system lately with very good success. I like the Leupold a bit better due to their eye relief. I seem to have a bit of trouble with Burris scopes in this area.

I was looking at buying a used scope. if i had to send it back for a reticle change then it would negate the good price. SIL.

Cohiba,

Sorry I was responding to jasonkjasonk about custom reticles.

Never been a dot fan myself.

Can't argue with that! What are you in the market for? Maybe I can help?

3.5-10x40 VariX w/click adjustments in matte.
gonna switch a varixII 3-9x40. cant stand friction adjustment.

I believe you can have click adjustments or even turrets put on your current scope for a reasonable cost.
