Will an Aimpoint Red Dot hold up to the recoil of a 416 Remington?
I have one on an AR-15 and it works fine but that doesn't have much bearing on a .416. They are made to be tough, so I would expect them to hold up to .416 recoil. However, I would call Aimpoint and see what they say.
We used an Aimpoint Comp on a 50 bmg bolt gun on the range w/out any problem. It got shot about 50 times/day.

Probably. If it doesn't I bet aimpoint would take care of you.
Yes. Aimpoint is the most durable by far. Their issue rate is so low only 1 person works repairs in the us and it is part time for him as they have almost no repairs,I talked to the guy once.
Go aimpoint for your red dot and don't look back.

I have an Aimpoint H2 on a 11.5" BCM AR pistol. So far it's been stellar.
A 416 has about 52 foot pounds (roughly) of recoil, depending on who's stats you use.
A 12 gauge shooting 3" slugs also has about 52 foot pounds of recoil.
Aimpoints have been used on shotguns shooting slugs for a good number of years.
Something to consider.
