I recently bought my wife a Howa Mini carbon stalker 6.5 Grendel and need an optic for it. It's under 5 pounds now, so I really want to keep it as light as possible since she is always belly aching about weight.
The shots on our ranch are 150 yards max, so a fixed 4 or 6 would be fine. She would never screw around with adjusting the power anyway. She is currently using a Mossberg MVP in 6mm Hagar with a Leupold 3-9 Ultralight, but the whole setup is WAY heavier than the new Howa.

Any thoughts here?

You need to look for a used M8 Leupold 4x, especially the 4x28 Compact, which weighs around 8 ounces.

Due to the friction adjustments they can take a while to sight-in, but once there they're rock-solid.
Another good one would be the Weaver Classic K4 or K6. The K6s are harder to find but the K4s come up pretty often on ebay. They are right at 10 oz.

Just to note....the K4-K6 steel tube vintage Weavers are not the Classic series- Al
Zeiss Davari and the Superchicken both come in at around 14 oz. Either would be a good choice.
Several Weaver K6 & K4 on flea-bay right now.

M8 Leupold is a good choice as well.
I'd probably just get the SWFA SS Ultralight 2.5-10x32 and set it on whatever magnification rocks your boat. It is under 10 ounces.

Just picked up a Weaver Micro Trac 4x for $65 on GB. Perfect except it had a tiny chip at the edge of the objective lens, which I hit with a drop of Super Glue to stabilize and seal. Headed for a .357 break-action, so nothing critical. These supposedly aren’t the best of the old Weavers, but it’ll do. There’s a decided dearth of reasonably-priced fixed-powers, unless you go Chicom like the Hawke Vantage. I spent a couple hundred on an M8 for an old custom FN, but am trying to go cheap on this one. The Henry really needs a plain straight tube for easy low scope mounting.
The majority of scopes on my guns are Leupold M8 4X and 6X.
Highly recommended.
To 150 and light weight with a stellar reputation you might want to look at the Leupold Lightweight 2.5x20.

At 6.5oz and strong enough for a DGR, quite the scope.
I like the Weaver Classic 4X38
Thanks guys. I went ahead and picked up an M8-4x compact.

A good choice. wink
Little late to the party, but for posterity, I'll add the Weaver Grand Slam 4.75. Very nice glass for the money, lightweight, and very rugged. Wish I'd have picked up more of them when they were current production.
